‘Estampie,

Not so many moonlights ago

I was amazed by my own reflection.

For I have this entire world

surrounded by my deception.

Under my streaming lights

I create the reason for rejection.

Until then, with widows grave,

I arise for my own protection.

Where my autumn is your winter

the summer breeze is my spring.

Thus I was created, by my saviour,

as I run free with my string.

Oh hearer of my mountains,

here I speak for your forgiveness,

as I, the king, beholds the strongest ring.

At wit’s end, for there was no season,

my darkest forest would sing.

The ruins and serene,

asleep and well hidden,

were formed by defeat.

So hear my last call

as I hide in your shadows discrete.

Follow me on my next channels and have a delight follow;

      • I expected the word window. When it wasn’t there, I had to stop and think about it. the image of my mum suddenly came to me (a recent widow), and suddenly meaning poured out of the poem. This is what I love about poetry: images change, morph, become all with the phrasing of a word.

      • First off all, sorry for your lost! β™₯️ And yes, I totally agree with you. Poetry does wonders to our souls and mind. A simple word can change the entire stanza and meaning!
